I was looking at Peter DeSeve's beautiful watercolor pieces and I felt inspired to doing something more traditional looking rather than my usual digital coloring. I had so much fun with this piece. I was going to do a traditional lizard dragon, but I had stumbled upon one of those floppy eared rat holding teddy bear pictures and I knew what I had to do. This was colored with all watercolor with some digital tweaking here and there. I also timed myself so that I can figure out exactly how long it takes to do a finished piece : 7hrs.

Mod Dahling pen and micron and digital
So this was so out of my comfort zone. There were no cute little fairys or monsters, and also
because this piece was done on my new laptop that I am still in the process of trying to get to know. I also had misplaced my photoshop discs for my new laptop so I downloaded the trial version of CS6 which was very interesting. I bet I would learn to love it more the more practice I get. But I did something weird with the line work settings and that's why my lines are all dirty looking which has been driving me nuts! Also using these bright colors made my life quite adventuerous but hey that's what being an artist is all about.

The Mouse witch pen and colored pencil
Hi guys! So if you didn't know I went to the Spectrum Convention last weekend and the experience was beyond anything I could have hoped for. I left Kansas City feeling humbled after meeting such extraordinary artists that I never would have thought I would meet in my life!
So what do you draw after seeing so much mind blowing art. Originally I was going to do an insane detailed piece, but then decided I want to work on color. The colors I saw there! They were so rich and brought the drawings to life! I still love doing my line art best, but this piece was intentionally made to be more simple so thatI could experiment with color, I'm thinking watercolor with some digital tweaks here and there. I'll keep you posted on it's progress!

My old fashioned nursery rhyme
I bet you guys are so sick of all these bridal drawings, but I'm trying to remake our invitations since we had to change our venue, and I came up with this. It's sweeter and less goofy, but I originally did it with three different colored pencils than scanned it in. Usually when I finish a piece I like to play with the levels of the colors to make sure they're just right. Since the colors were really faded ( as you can see) I pushed them all the way up for fun and found that the illustration reminded me of those old vintage nursery rhyme illustrations. You know, where everything is saturated and the line quality is amazing? So I left it for fun and you can see them both :) I feel like i should turn it into a stamp or something
